1236 - James Chapter 1 with Rabbi Michael Skobac

Matthew 13:55 International Standard Version 55 This is the builder’s[a] son, isn’t it? His mother is named Mary, isn’t she? His brothers are James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas, aren’t they?

James 1 International Standard Version Greetings  1 From:[a] James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah.[b]  To: The twelve tribes in the Dispersion.[c]  Greetings.

James 1:25 International Standard Version 25 But the one who looks at the perfect law of freedom and remains committed to it—thereby demonstrating that he is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of what that law[a] requires—will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:27International Standard Version

27 A religion that is pure and stainless according to[a] God the Father is this: to take care of orphans and widows who are suffering, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

James 2:8 International Standard Version 8 Nevertheless, you are doing the right thing if you obey the royal Law in keeping with the Scripture, “You must love your neighbor as yourself.”[a]

James 2:14 International Standard Version Faith is Shown by Actions  14 What good does it do, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith but does not prove it with actions? This kind of faith cannot save him, can it?

James 2:17 International Standard Version 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it does not prove itself with actions, is dead.

James 2:19 International Standard Version 19 You believe that there is one God. That’s fine! Even the demons believe that and tremble with fear.

James 2:24 International Standard Version 24 You[a] observe that a person is justified through actions and not through faith alone.

JAMES & GENESIS  vs Paul in Romans

James 2:20-24 International Standard Version 20 Do you want proof, you foolish person, that faith without actions is worthless? 21 Our ancestor Abraham was justified by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar, wasn’t he? 22 You[a] see that his faith worked together with what he did, and by his actions his faith was made complete. 23 And so the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[b] And so he was called God’s friend. 24 You[c] observe that a person is justified through actions and not through faith alone.

Romans 4:1-4 International Standard Version The Example of Abraham  4 What, then, are we to say about Abraham, our human ancestor? 2 For if Abraham was justified by actions, he would have had something to boast about—though not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[a]

Genesis 18:19-19  18And Abraham will become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations of the world will be blessed in him. 19For I have known him because he commands his sons and his household after him, that they should keep the way of the Lord to perform righteousness and justice, in order that the Lord bring upon Abraham that which He spoke concerning him."

Genesis 22:18 Complete Jewish Bible 18 and by your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed — because you obeyed my order.”

Genesis 26:4-5 Complete Jewish Bible 4 I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, I will give all these lands to your descendants, and by your descendants all the nations of the earth will bless themselves. 5 All this is because Avraham heeded what I said and did what I told him to do — he followed my mitzvot, my regulations and my teachings.”

Everyone has this Yetzer Hara. That is why Cain killed Abel: his Evil Inclination got the better of him. Our job is to resist it, and through this, we make the world into a better place. The Torah shows us what G‑d wants us to do. The Yetzer Hara tries to persuade us to disobey—but we have to fight back against it by doing good!"

Acts 21:18-36

Acts 21:18-31. Paul vs James

Acts 21:18-36 International Standard Version 18 The next day, Paul went with us to visit James, and all the elders were present. 19 After greeting them, Paul[a] related one by one the things that God had done among the gentiles through his ministry. 20 When they heard about it, they praised God and told him, “You see, brother, how many tens of thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and all of them are zealous for the Law. 21 But they have been told about you—that you teach all the Jews living among the gentiles to forsake the Law of Moses, and that you tell them not to circumcise their children or observe the customs. 22 What is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. 23 So do what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow. 24 Take these men, go through the purification ceremony with them, and pay their expenses to shave their heads. Then everyone will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you are carefully observing and keeping the Law. 25 As for the gentiles who have become believers, we have sent a letter with our decision that they should keep away from food that has been sacrificed to idols, from blood,[b] from anything strangled,[c] and from sexual immorality.”  Paul is Arrested in the Temple  26 Then Paul took those men and the next day purified himself with them. Then he went into the Temple to announce the time when their days of purification would end and when the sacrifice would be offered for each of them. 27 When the seven days were almost over, the Jews from Asia, seeing Paul[d] in the Temple, stirred up a large crowd. They grabbed Paul,[e] 28 yelling, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere to turn against our people, the Law, and this place. More than that, he has even brought Greeks into the Temple and desecrated this Holy Place.” 29 For they had earlier seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him and assumed that Paul had taken him into the Temple. 30 The whole city was in chaos. The people rushed together, grabbed Paul, dragged him out of the Temple, and at once the doors were sealed shut.  31 The crowd[f] was trying to kill Paul[g] when a report reached the tribune of the cohort[h] that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

James 5:16 International Standard Version 16 Therefore, make it your habit to confess your sins to one another and to pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:20 International Standard Version 20 you may be sure that whoever brings a sinner back from his wrong path will save his soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

1310 - 1 Peter Chapter 1: Will the Real Peter Please Stand U

1 Peter 4:3-5Complete Jewish Bible

3 For you have spent enough time already living the way the pagans want you to live — in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, wild parties and forbidden idol-worship. 4 They think it strange that you don’t plunge with them into the same flood of dissoluteness, and so they heap insults on you. 5 But they will have to give an account to him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

#Resist

we can #resist. G-d is separate & different than messiah

1 Peter 5:6-10 International Standard Version 6 Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you. 7 Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the Devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you by the Messiah[a] Jesus[b] to his eternal glory, will restore you, establish you, strengthen you, and support you.

2 Peter 1:16-17International Standard Version

Pay Attention to God’s Word

16 When we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah,[a] we did not follow any clever myths. Rather, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when these words from the Majestic Glory were spoken about him: “This is my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with him.”

2 Peter 1:5-7 International Standard Version 5 For this very reason, you must make every effort to supplement your faith with moral character, your moral character with knowledge, 6 your knowledge with self-control, your self-control with endurance, your endurance with godliness, 7 your godliness with brotherly kindness, and your brotherly kindness with love.

2 Peter 3:9 &11ISV Repentance

9 The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some people understand slowness, but is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to find room for repentence.

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, think of the kind of holy and godly people you ought to be

A RABBI CROSS-EXAMINES CHRISTIANITY – Rabbi Michael Skobac –

Questions should be directed to RabbiSkobac@JewsForJudaism.ca. CORRECTION: Please note that at 1:13 Rabbi Skobac quotes from Matthew 11. It should be Matthew 2.

G-d our Father separa diff than Jesus

Jesus and our Father separate different, Father is G-d

John 20:17 International Standard Version 17 Jesus told her, “Don’t hold on to me, because I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I’m ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
